Setting Up
To set up for data collection, I used a home base that has the stripes to mark inside, middle, and outside pitches. This base was taped down to keep it from moving. I started collecting data for pitches right down the middle of the plate. I placed the tee right on top of the base for the middle of the zone. I had Alex stand in the "box" and used painters tape to mark where he stands for every swing. On the tee, I changed the height and marked the low, middle, and high strikes with painters tape. I also hung up a net since this is taking place in our unfinished basement. Before I began collecting data, I had Alex swing with it a few days so I could figure out his typical range for power, impact momentum, exit velo, etc. This was all for middle of the zone.
