Baseball Stats

At this point, I am really keeping the bottom part of this page solely because I think it is really cool to see how far I have come since I made this website sophomore/junior year of high school. I have learned so much since this has started, but unfortunately I am not sharing anything I am currently working on (at least not here). A lot of the work I am doing now is in preparation for Samford's upcoming spring season and is something I cannot put on the internet.

I have worked with Samford Baseball since August 2021. However, most of our focus last year was on scouting reports and learning the Trackman technology. I learned a lot, especially about pitching and identifying various pitches based on metrics. This year, we have a season's worth of Trackman data and are focusing on digging into it and finding some competitive advantages. 

My first season, I kept track of BP stats during practice, and a "Kangaroo Chart" (which really just tracks the good and bad things player do) during the games. 

Now, I have taken my stat tracking for FCHS baseball to the next level. Using Excel, I have created a book that will track each players stats at the plater, on the field, and on the mound. It has a team performance summary for each of the games, as well as a season summary with each players stats. Yes, there is Game Changer, but I can track this and customize it to track whatever the coaches want to see, and it just fun for me to do. Plus, all of the guys like to come by and see where they are at as an individual and as a team! I did find a download of something very similar to want I have made, but there was more that I wanted to do with it and some of it that I really didn't need, so I made my own version of that.

Sadly, the 2020 season was cut short due to COVID-19. This meant I no longer had data to add to this for this season. However, I plan on using this again for the 2021 season. For 2021 season, I will also track catcher's stats. Even though my 2020 FCHS baseball stat tracking was put to a halt, I used this for my brother's travel baseball team, the Georgia Bombers during their summer season. I also started another project dealing with attack angle and projected distance. You can read about this exciting study here.

Post High School Graduation Update:

My senior year, I really stepped up and made a lot of improvements and made it into something coaches could actually used. I worked a lot on making it easy to interpret so it didn't create more work for the coaches. Unfortunately, I cannot share them since I do not have the files anymore.
